eXlinks – eXposed!

exlogo.jpg
A few days ago, I wrote about a new web2.0 up and coming site called eXlinks.

The entire idea of a social linking network
is entirely new and somewhat foreign to me so I wanted to try and find out more about it.

The site that’s promoting this service is BlogMad but no one in the BlogMad shoutbox was willing to share any info on it so I decided to snoop around.

I tried a few urls like http://www.exlinks.net/user.php and even http://www.exlinks.net/login.php

Nothing. And the pages kept going to a 404 at a website called http://www.netforums.net ? which I found out is another site belonging to Kinetiq. So then I thought, well if according to their blog, the site will have a control panel, I looked at the structure of blogmad and saw that the control panel for blogmad is at http://www.blogmad.net/ucp so I tried http://www.exlinks.net/ucp

and what did I find?

UCP eXlinks
Obviously many of the links aren’t working and the errors are probably because I went straight there without logging in.

The list of sites and links is also not working.

I like the hover over tool tips like this one.

ToolTip

The search function isn’t working and the account active notice at the bottom was still showing up even though I hadn’t logged in.

I love the logo! The one in the bottom right hand corner.
The menu collapses nicely, although the image still reflects a – instead of a + when the menu is collapsed. I would change that

You can see the total number of signups that they have had since prelaunching a week ago. It went from 1193 to 1211 within the time I was playing around with the site.

It looks to be a really sweet idea and a nice site.

And this could really be the very next big thing. I will continue to help support this site, the bigger it gets the better for all, right?

Help me digg this story at DIGG

UPDATE!!!

I went back there earlier to get more screenies and it kicked me out with a password protected page.

Now its pointing to a 404 so I think they have moved it.

If anyone finds any other links that are active or that have screenshots unseen yet, please let me know and I will add them.

Track your competition with competitio.us

Seems like alot of web 2.0 sites favour the mirror logo and this site is no different, very nice layout.

The point of this site is to help you track how your site is doing against its competition.

smikioo – review a smile

I don’t know if I like it really, upload a photo and find out what other other people think of you. Weird but intriguing.

The logo I am not thrilled about, it looks cheap. Who knows, this might be catchy.

eXlinks – Social Linking

eXlinks

This is interesting.

We know of social bookmarking but what on earth is social linking?

The same guys who launched BlogMad  have another (alpha?) site coming up called eXlinks.
Not much is known about the site, it seems as though they are keeping it very hush hush.  Although it must be said that mysterious is sometimes good. They are accepting prelaunch signups.
In my experience, sites that keep their cards close to their chests are normally hiding a damn good secret.

I have to admit that I am more than a bit intrigued.

A quick search on technorati shows that HUNDREDS of people are linking to this site already.

BlogMad Beta

BlogMad

I happened upon this site today by chance and signed up.

It’s a traffic exchange, how it works is that you view a blog and in return get a visitor to yours.

Perfect for the blogger who wants to expose his blog.

Lots of features, lots of blogs, helpful staff, there’s games and more.

A very fresh web2.0 site

Joe’s Goals

What I like about web2.0 sites is that they are more an application than a site, some people seem to forget that basic rule, be it an application for bookmarking, linking , traffic sharing or even tracking your goals.

And thats what Joe’s Goals does for you, it allows you to track any personal goals you set for yourself.

Pretty awesome!

Beta Marker

A Digg for betas!

The concept sounds pretty cool, the site itself is almost brand new without any PageRank yet but it could be quite a competitive alternative to Digg for people like myself who are into new and funky websites like this. They don’t only do beta sites but any software too!
I like the layout, I like the colors, I like the site.

Powerset – a new kind of search

powerset

Apparently this Palo Alto start up is in the process of raising $10 million to try and take on Google.

They are making a claim that their search technology is far better than Google’s.

That’s quite a bold statement to make. Their site is pretty bland; the huge font and pretty plain logo is reminiscent of a web2.0 maddox wanna be site.

Piczo

piczo.JPG

Is this the mySpace killer?

Piczo is a myspace for the younger generation. According to techcrunch these guys are getting 35000 sign ups a day.

What’s more, theres no browse function.

Its a totally “secure” social site where people ( read: potential peadophiles) cannot browse and look for people whom they can stalk.
